Welcome to the site for the world championship draughts for juniors and girls! This championship will be played in Naaldwijk, only 15 kilometres from The Hague. Naaldwijk is in the centre of Westland region, its vast horticultural area being one of the most important key ports of The Netherlands.
The Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Carlton in Naaldwijk guarantees the attractive ambiance of a 4 star accommodation. It will create sufficient conditions for all participants, both girls and boys, to perform optimally. A special hotel arrangement for participants and their coaches is available.

Participants

This World Championschip will be a unique event in a unique region. With players from India, Jakutsk, Senegal and Brazil, a record number of participating countries and possibly a record number of participants is to be expected. The vacant title of Belarusian double world champion Andrey Tolchikov is at stake for the juniors. It will be interesting to see how 13 year old (!) local hero Martijn van IJzendoorn from the town of Wateringen, who was granted a free invitation, will hold his ground in this arena.

Electronic boards

Using electronic boards, it will be possible to follow 10 games every day in real time on the internet, the world over from Mongolia to Antarctic. In addition we organize regional school championships, of which both finals will be played in Fletcher Hotel Carlton during the world championship. Because draughts is not only top-class sport but also recreational sport.

The Hague Open

This World Championship is organised by 'The Hague Open' foundation. After having organized the Hague international summer draughts tournament The Hague Open for 15 years, the organising committee now took the intiative to organise this event.
